Adoption specials and fostering opportunities help animals find a home for the holidays

Adoptable animals at Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC), Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) in Nashville and Cheatham County Animal Control (CCAC) are hopeful that Christmas Eve will find them amongst presents by the tree. To help make sure these animals’ wishes are not only in their dreams, the three agencies are offering adoption specials through December 24 and recruiting foster families. “Our hope is that Christmas Eve will be a ‘silent night’ at our shelters because all of the kennels are empty,” said WCAC Director, Ondrea Johnson. “What better time than the holidays to share your home with a rescue animal?” Adoption fees at WCAC are $25 for all cats and dogs during this special. Anyone interested in sharing a spot under the mistletoe in their home with an animal that is not adopted by Christmas can call the shelters or visit their websites to learn about fostering opportunities for the holiday weekend.

Molly is a sweet 8-year-old girl who is very vocal and loves to interact with people. She is playful and, according to her foster family, is able to adjust to any environment.

“We are thrilled to partner with our friends to find loving homes for all our shelter animals,” Ashley Harrington, MACC Director added. “Our hope is that local pet lovers will choose to give a rescue pet a home for the holidays. We are counting down to ‘MACC-Mas’ by introducing a new special each day on our social media platforms. We will offer several different promotions throughout the holiday season to remove any possible barriers to matching animals with loving adoptive families.” “What brings more joy than animals and the holidays,” asked CCAC Director, Brittany Sellers. “Being part of this event is a win-win for all of us, especially our pets who find their forever families in time for Christmas.” Adoption fees at CCAC are $25 for all cats and dogs until December 12, then $12 until December 24 for their “Twelve Strays of Christmas” promotion.

As his name suggests, Ole Greg is a senior cat and he is litterbox trained. He doesn’t love being picked up, so he would do best with no kids or older kids.
